Samantha's Preschool Spring Program

Samantha had her last preschool program on May 2nd. She got all "dolled" up! I curled her hair and she wore her fancy Easter dress. She was so excited her special night was finally here! She had been talking about it for months!
Samantha posing outside her school before the program.
They are almost all looking at the camera! Amazing how much they have all changed since August went I took a picture of them before Samantha's 1st day of preschool! Clair couldn't even walk back then!
Posing by the school mascot - Cardinals. I had the same mascot when I was growing up in Humboldt. The St. John School Cardinal looks very similar to Humboldt's old Cardinal mascot.
Samantha & her friend and preschool classmate - Grant.
Cousins! Emily Moyer was in the 3-4 year old preschool class at St. John's this year and Samantha was in the 4-5 year old preschool class. They both looked so pretty!
Part of Samantha's class before the program. They all sat so still and quiet! Amazing! I wonder what the trick is??
Alden and his future preschool classmate - Mikena. (And a candidate for his girlfriend...) They will both be in the 3-4 year old preschool class in August together! I'm actually worried for Miss Nancy & Miss Janet! These two kids can be pretty crazy together! :)

Samantha's class sang 2 songs. She knew all the words, and one was even in Spanish!

Imagination Movers "In a Big Warehouse Tour"!

The day we all had to spring forward with the clocks, we went to see the Imagination Movers concert. The show was in downtown Kansas City at the Midlands Theater. The kids enjoyed seeing the old theater and walking around downtown before the concert. However, it was pretty chilly that weekend.
Alden with his usual theatrics.

Wating while the girls went potty.

We were in the second row on stage right. They were great seats!!

Why can't Doug ever have his eyes open in a picture??

Choo-Choo Soul opened the show. They got the party started! Watching DC break dance was cool. Alden loved them.

Sam's Favorite Song ~ sang by Nina~On My Way Home(In a Big WarehouseDisney Music CDs)
). She loves doing all the Hawaiian moves that go along with the song

There was a little area that turned into a preschool mosh pit. Sam and 3 or 4 other girls danced right infront of the stage the whole show. The movers came down off the stage alot and said "hi" to the kids. Sam got a front row for Rich's solo.

Alden Stayed in his seat but it was on the aisle and did lots of high fives and fist bumps with the Movers.

Sam getting a pat on the head after the solo.

When they slowed things down a bit Clair took it a little too far. The show started right about nap time and I guess Clair felt like she needed her rest. :) She slept so hard, even right through a couple fast songs! Mover Dave came down and saw that she was asleep and just laughed at her! Later on when she woke back up, Dave said "good morning" to her! It was cute!

The highlight for Alden was Eddie the monster. This is Alden waving to him.

Eddie on stage.

Dave was infront of us the whole show so Sam and Alden got to know him well. This is when he came down to the crowd and said "Good Morning" to Clair.

Dave Rockin' the New Orleans Saints Logo on the Bass.

Confetti coming down from above! Sam had to save some for her scrapbook.

At the end Choo-Choo Soul came out and played a few songs with the movers.

It was a great show. The kids had a blast and they work in some music for the "big kids" with Beastie Boys and Van Halen.

Christmas Symphony in Omaha

I (Doug) took Samantha to "Christmas with the Omaha Symphony" last weekend. She had lots of fun. It was both of our first times in the Holland Center. we met Aunt Debbie and walked to the center accross the Gene Leahy Mall. There were live rain deer to pet but Sam wanted nothing to do with touching an animal. We found our seat and setteled in. Sam was upset she could not see the trumpets, She thought they should be right in front and I had to agree. She loved the dancing santas and the sing along at the end. She belted out the tunes. She really loved the dancing. The first pic shows us with the Holland Center over my left shoulder. And a snap shot of Sam and her anunt Debbie.

Imagination Movers!!

Last Thursday, we went to Kansas City to see the Imagination Movers in concert. The Imagination Movers is a show on Playhouse Disney in the mornings that the kids love to watch. Their music is pretty catchy and doesn't drive Doug & I nuts, so we decided this would be a great kids thing to go to. The "Movers" (as Alden calls them) are four friends who decided that there needed to be more of an influence from music and guys for preschoolers than the "Wiggles" (who they didn't really care for). They describe themselves as The Beastie Boys meets Mr. Rogers! :) 3 of them are dads and use their own real life experiences to write songs. Such as: "I want my mommy" which is a song about how they hope their kids will sleep through the night soon! They solve problems every show and the kids help and learn how to figure things out. The kids had a great time! Samantha eventually went over to the isle that we were sitting on and started jumping and dancing with another little girl. It was cute! Alden danced in my lap most of the time, but he did have fun. (The=We left Clair with Great Aunt Debbie and she did great too. We went back to Scott & Debbie's house on the outside of KC in Liberty, MO and stayed for the night. Debbie was great and cooked supper and breakfast and cookies for us, and she had a cradle & crib all set up for Clair (actually she just became a grandma to Charlotte about 2 months ago so they were really set up for her, but Clair was able to use them)!

Samantha's Tunes

Samantha is exposed to lots of different kinds of music these days. The whole child development group talks about classical in the womb. the baby Cd's are full of crappy Mozart and batoven(yes I know I cant spell) It would be fine if it was the real thing but they dumb it down and make it suck. So I have made Sam her own CD's to develop her little brain. Right know in her cd player that we listen to before bed is a jazz cd. we sample a bit of everything. Dizzy, Miles, David Brubeck, and Maynard. Lots of trumpets, and Herbie Hancock. She really likes the up tempo stuff and Starts to dance around a little bit. She has also had a cd that is full of Rock. Some Ben Folds, Cake, Reel Big Fish are some artist and some songs like little bitty pretty one, Hush, and Hey baby kind of going with a baby style. Here favorite songs are "Omaha, Nebraska", "Hay ya" Particularly the shake it like a Polaroid picture part. Most importantly The marching band is in heavily rotation. She has hear pregame from the womb on. So any suggestions about the Music choices for Samantha are welcome. And yes debbie there is one coltain song on that cd, Giant Steps.(but it is at the end) I would also like to say thanks to everyone for reading and I hope it is enjoyable any suggestions are welcome. And thanks to Steve for Starting his own blog and getting me addicted to reading about his day to day life. I will put a link on as soon as I figure it out.
