Samantha's Preschool Thanksgiving Feast

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, the parents were invited to Samantha's preschool for a "Feast". We each brought some finger food and then we sat down with our kids and ate a Thanksgiving feast. The kids ate for about 2 minutes and then decided they would rather be playing together. So, the moms (and dad) had fun getting to know each other and watching the kids play. The preschoolers spent the last month learning about Thanksgiving.

Christmas Lights

Doug & Alden put up the Christmas lights in the backyard about 2 weeks ago. Alden thought he was pretty hot stuff by getting to help. Samantha chose to stay inside and watch a show (big shocker). :) The lights look so nice!

We've been pretty busy lately, but hope to get caught back up soon with our blogging! :)

6 Weeks Old!!!

Hard to believe my baby girl is 6 weeks old already!! She is still such a good baby and is sleeping a little more at night now. She's also starting to smile and coo a little bit. :) And she's growing!! She's moved on to 3 month clothing already! Samantha & Alden wore Newborn until way after Christmas, so she's breaking their old records!! :)

Samantha's Actual Birthday

Samantha had a very busy birthday last Monday. Alden, Clair, & I woke her up by singing Happy Birthday to her and she had many phone calls throughout the day to wish her a happy birthday. I took all the kids down to Nebraska City and we had lunch at the newly remodeled McDonalds for lunch with Nebraska City Grandma & Papa. They brought her a balloon & a My Little Pony and she also got ice cream after lunch!! We headed back to Plattsmouth after lunch and Grandma McKnight took Samantha out for ice cream too - this time at Dairy Queen. She had sprinkles on her ice cream and was soooo excited about that! Then, Doug & I took her and Alden and Clair to Famous Daves in Bellevue for super and then back home to make cupcakes for preschool class. When the cupcakes were all decorated, we put 4 candles on top of one and sang Happy Birthday one last time! We held back one present for her to open on her birthday, so she did that next. She got a new Disney Princess Tea Party set and was very excited and so was Alden! He helped me wrap it and I'm proud to say he can keep a secret!! (well - he at least didn't tell her what it was!) :)

Clair's Baptism

Clair was baptized on Sunday, November 8th at the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth. We had a wonderful service and awesome weather for her special day. Doug's sister Debra took the day off from her church to baptize her at our church, and she also did the sermon during the church service. She helped with both of Samantha & Alden's baptisms while she was in seminary school, so we were so happy she was able to do Clair's too. Clair was asleep until Debra put the water on her head and then she started screaming. Doug's brother Greg & my brother Chris stood up with us as they are "Godfathers" for Samantha & Alden too. All of our grandparents were there: Lila & Cecil, Don & Liz, and Verna Mae. My aunts: Lisa, Susie, and Janet came as well as Janet's husband Craig and my cousins: Scott, Keith, Kate, & Bryan. Doug's aunt Jodi came too. After the service, we went back to our house and had breakfast and cake.

Samantha's 4th Birthday

We celebrated Samantha's 4th Birthday with our families on Friday, November 6th at our house. Samantha had been sick the previous day, and still wasn't 100%, but her fever was gone, so we went on with the party! Samantha had a lot of fun and got some great gifts! Uncle Greg was in town from Seattle and brought his friend Troy. It was the first time we had seen Greg since May when he moved out there. Others in attendance: Uncle Chris, Auntie Debra, Nebraska City Grandma & Grandpa, Grandma & Grandpa by the lake -a.k.a. McKnight (thats what Samantha calls them "by the lake grandparents" - she comes up with the funniest things), Great-Grandma & Great-Grandpa McKnight, Great-Grandma & Great-Grandpa Holman, Aunt Jodi, Cousin Jamie & her boyfriend Brandon. She got a doll that can go in the bath with her, UNO Moo game, clothes, Tinkerbell table & chairs, Tinkerbell -the new movie, Barbie figurine, princess puzzle, Princess Yatzee game, Cinderella & pony, Princess piano, princess tea cart, dance bag to put her shoes in for dance lessons, Turtle necklace and travel fund money, and money for college. We all had Minnie Mouse cake after presents.

Trick - or - Treat

Halloween was a busy day for the McKnight children. I took the kids to Nebraska City (in costume) to see my parents and to trick-or-treat at the outlet mall. We had lunch at the newly remodeled McDonalds (which was very exciting for Alden & Samantha-you have no idea how much we have all suffered from August -October while they tore down the old McDonalds & rebuilt it!). After Nebraska City, we went home and picked up Doug and then went to Grandma & Grandpa McKnight's house. The kids each got sugar cookies for their "treat". Then, it was off to Great-Grandma & Grandpa McKnight's house - where Auntie Debra met up with us. Finally, we made a stop at Great-Grandma & Grandpa Holman's house before heading home for supper. After supper, Doug took Samantha & Alden trick-or-treating around town to various people we knew. Alden was afraid of EVERYTHING, so the trip didn't last long. :) Clair & I stayed home to hand out toothbrushes & candy to all the trick-or-treaters that came to our house.
