We had Alden's 1st Birthday Party on Friday night. His actual birthday is on Sunday - October 5th, but we are headed to KC on Sunday before flying out at 7am on Monday, October 6th for DisneyWorld in Florida. We had a great time! Alden was fun to watch. He wanted his toys open as soon as they were unwrapped. He had no desire to unwrap the next one because he still wanted the 1st one opened up! Samantha did a lot of opening of his gifts and Alden sat with Nebraska City Grandma and watched and played with the presents. Kathy & Nathan brought Sam her birthday gift early (because Kathy will be having a baby right around Sam's brithday) and she loved it! It was a princess barbie with a magic wand! Alden got some really neat stuff! He got a talking/learning VTech book from Uncle Chris, Penguin blowup and knockdown bag from Aunt Jodi, Jamie, & Eric, Car and Tug Boat and soft shoes and money for college from Grandma & Grandpa McKnight, a book and money for their travel fund from Auntie Debra and Uncle Greg, a Beanie Baby and a savings bond from Great-Grandma & Great-Grandpa Holman, Money from Liz Rehrs (works with my parents in NC), a tool set from Samantha, Adidas outfit and a Little People Train and Hayrack Ride and a Tool Bench from Nebraska City Grandma & Grandpa, and a CARS couch from Mom & Dad. He loved the cake. The day before the party, he had a cake at Picture People and he made such a huge mess. He knew exactly what to do with this Mickey Mouse cake! The only problem was that the piece I gave him had mainly Black frosting, which actually dyed his fingers black!! He also loved the ice cream! After the grandmas cleaned him up, he went straight to the toys he got for his birthday!
