Doug's Triathlon
Doug completed the 4th triathlon of his life on June 26th in Plattsmouth (3rd one in Plattsmouth). He did so good! He trimmed a whole minute off his swimming time! He ran so fast, that I didn't even get to take a picture of him running during the race! He swam 500 yards, biked for 15 miles, and then ran for 3.1 miles! All in sweltering heat and humidity!! The kids all wore "Tri Daddy, Tri" shirts to support him. Doug's mom was there to help with the kiddos (which I needed in the worst way! - Thanks Sandy!!). Doug got a LIVESTRONG sticker for his bike that says "I ride for BRYAN BOTKIN" in honor of my 9 year old cousin Bryan who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Afterward, the kids and Doug went swimming in the pool while we waited for the results to be calculated. When we got home, we all collapsed...well everyone except myself! I needed to clean up our mess from the early morning departure for the triathlon. Clair took a little while to fall asleep, but when she did, she was playing with her toys, and basically fell over. She ended up sleeping on some of the toys which I don't think was very comfortable at all! :)
Sorry for the delay...
Doug & I are busy planning our church's Vacation Bible School this summer. Our VBS is from July 18-22. So don't expect to see very many new updates on here until that's over, but I we have time I will try. :)
Father's Day
We spent a rainy father's day at Doug's parents' house by the lake. We had every intention of going swimming and boating, however the weather had other plans for the day. It rained the whole day and there was some thunder and lightning too. The day before Doug was able to go to the opening day of the College World Series with his Grandpa Cecil and cousin Brett and his girlfriend Cassie. And I went to Nebraska City with the kids and met my brother and my dad and took my dad out for a father's day lunch a day early. So, thank goodness the whole weekend was lost to the rain! :)
Doug's uncle and aunt - Scott & Debbie - came up from Kansas City, as well as Doug's cousin Dustin and his wife Goldie and their 10 month old - Charlotte. Brett & Cassie spent the night at Lila & Cecil's house so they were there as well. Jodi came too, as well as Auntie Debra, Janelle, Lila & Cecil. We had fun watching Clair & Charlotte play.
Doug opened his father's day present. He got t-shirts for the kids to wear to his triathlon the following week that said "Tri Daddy, Tri" and I gave him a gift card to Disney for our trip in December. We gave Jim a outdoor kids' size Picnic Table for the kids to use while they are at his house.
