The other day Drew and Emily Came by to play while their Mom packed for their trip to Hawaii. The four older kids entertain themselves quite well. Alden has that look all the time.

Valentine's Day
For Valentine's Day, we gave the kids some little plastic Disney plates, bowls, forks and spoons. Smantha also got some Tinkerbell Fairy figurines and Alden got Toy Story figurines. We went to Doug's parent's house for lunch with Auntie Debra, Janelle, Aunt Jodi, Great Grandma & Grandpa Holman, and Great-Grandma & Grandpa McKnight. Alden helped Grandma with the cheese bread, while Samantha read Clair a book.

MOPS Valentine Party
I am the Coordinator for the Plattsmouth MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers), and myself and another MOPS person organized a Valentine party at the library in town. It was a lot of fun! We had 18 kids + 11 moms come! We played games, danced, had storytime, colored a Valentine Picture, ate finger foods, and passed out Valentines to each other. The kids decorated Valentine containers at our last MOPS meeting. Samantha was on cloud nine because her best friend Stella came to the party and Alden had a blast with Caden and the other boys! Clair just enjoyed being held by my friend Mandy! I've learn that Holidays are much more fun when experienced through the eyes of a child! :)

A Friendly Visit
A few weeks ago, we had some visitors from Lincoln. Shannon (who Doug works with in Lincoln at the Health Center) and her kids Ava, Cartell, & Abbi all stopped by for lunch. While Abbi & Cartell entertained our older 2 kids, Ava took a liking to Clair. She was very gentle and wanted to hold her. It was so sweet.

For the Birds
A few weeks ago the kids decided the birds had to be hungry because of all the snow. So, we set out to help our feathered friends. After finding the pine cones, birdseed, and some peanut butter we invaded grandma and grandpa McKnight's house to make some bird feeders! It was a fun project with Grandma and Michelle doing about 99% of the work. Debra held Clair and Sam and Alden did some sprinkling of seed. They also smeared some peanut butter. We hung them outside and They were a hit with the birds. They were picked clear in a few days. And yes, Alden did all the taste testing.

Clair's A Husker
Clair made her first appearance at a Husker sporting event. It was the OU vs NU basketball game. Clair Loved every minute of it. Only got up set a time or two. She tried to share Doug's pizza. Clair was joined at the game by Her parents, Papa McKnight, and Joel and Beth. The husker men are undefeated when Clair is in attendance. If only she could make it to more games.

Alden's Solo Zoo Trip
On January 18th, Alden had a Dermatologist Appointment in Omaha to get some bumps scraped off. Doug's mom watched the girls, and I took Alden by himself. He did great at the doctor appointment and afterward we went to the Henry Doorly Zoo. He thought he was pretty cool getting to go to the zoo with just mommy. It was pretty cold that day, so we stuck to the inside exhibits! We went to the aquarium and saw the penguins, fish, sharks, and turtles. Our last stop was the Lied Jungle. Alden seemed to be afraid of everything in the Jungle, so we made a quick trip through it. On the way out, we stopped at the gift shop and spent some money that the kids got from Debra & Greg for Christmas. Alden decided to get a stuffed penguin. After the zoo, we went to McDonalds to eat lunch and a quick stop at Target made Alden's day with mommy just perfect! :)

SLEDDING!!!
We finally got to try out the sleds that Papa Merritt got the kids way before Christmas! It was finally the perfection combination: not too cold, not dark outside, and the kids were not sick!! It took until January 16th for this to finally happen!! The kids fun with Doug. He pulled them up to the tree line in the open field behind our house and then sled down with them each individually. They picked up some good speed a few times, as you can tell by Doug & Samantha's faces in one of the pictures! Clair & I just hung out in the HUGE drift in our back yard. Samantha is standing on top of it in one picture. The drift is almost as tall as our wall in the backyard in some spots. We also have 3 ft and 4 ft little spiral trees with lights on them, which you can barely see because they are covered up with snow! We are the only ones with snow still in our back yard, and it may be there until May this year....hopefully it doesn't melt too quickly and then flood our basement!

Holman Christmas - OUR FINAL CHRISTMAS FROM THE 2009 CHRISTMAS SEASON!
We had the Holman Christmas on January 9th at Doug's parents' house. There was a ton of kids at this Christmas (not close to the 20+ we have at the Richardson Christmas - but these kids are the next generation - the 'great grandkids')! Dan & Amber have 4, Jon & Nancy have 3, and we have 3 - and they are all loud and crazy when they get together! ;) We were only missing Shaley and we would have had all the great-grandkids there! It was fun because we had 2 new babies this year - Clair & Aubrey! We drew names at Thanksgiving for the great-grandkids for a $10 gift and the adults did a $10 gift card exchange this year. The great-grandkids also played BINGO for prizes, and Dan called out the numbers, with a little help from Colton. Sandy made her awesome Hearty Chicken Soup and Linda made Chili for supper. It felt great to finally be done with Christmas for the year (even if we did have to string it into 2010!).
